The State of Maryland and Housing Opportunities Commission

Helping local governments meet goals

Featured Case Study

In 2002, Swanson Communications was hired by the Housing Opportunities Commission of Maryland to create, budget and execute an advertising campaign that offered low income housing rental information to Montgomery County, Md. landlords in order to meet federal spending requirements.

With a budget of $70,000, we worked closely with the Commission to select targeted media outlets and develop and execute a Housing Choice Voucher campaign that incorporated the services of Washington Redskins’ running back and NFL MVP Larry Brown, who served as the official spokesman for television and radio advertisements. The campaign was a success and the commission received federal funding.
