Affliction Entertainment First MMA Organization To Partner With Waltrip Racing

Affliction Entertainment and Michael Waltrip Racing have teamed up to race for the checkered flag in the Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway in Southern California. This year’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the two-mile D-shaped oval will find Waltrip’s double zero (00) entry, driven by veteran driver Mike Skinner, fully wrapped in Affliction Entertainment’s “Day of Reckoning” graphics promoting the upcoming Oct. 11 MMA Pay-Per-View event from Las Vegas. The 250-lap event will start at 5 p.m. Pacific on Sunday, Aug. 31 from Auto Club Speedway in San Bernardino County, Calif. and will be shown on ABC TV via ESPN-ABC Sports.

Swanson Communications Welcomes Newest Account Executive Courtney Kimmel

Swanson Communications has recently hired Courtney Kimmel as the newest Account Executive at the DC-based marketing and public relations firm following the completion of a summer internship at the agency. Kimmel will assist with all agency projects including the national promotion of Oscar de la Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao, the biggest fight of 2008.

Boys & Girls Club Members Participate in “Starting Nine”

During the pre-game ceremony, the Washington Nationals will recognize 18-year-old Joshua Carter for being the 2008 Boys & Girls Clubs District of Columbia Youth of the Year and will present him with a certificate commemorating his outstanding achievements. In addition, nine lucky BGCGW youth will take to the field during the “Starting Nine” announcement.

Fighters Report To Training Camp In Preparation For “The Challenge” On September 13th

As the eyes of the world turn to Beijing for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, four of boxing’s elite have ended their summers, packed their bags and officially begun training for what will be one of the best nights of boxing this year. Gold Medalist (’92) and current Ring Magazine Lightweight World Champion Joel Casamayor and former two-division World Champion Juan Manuel Marquez will battle, following a rematch between Sergio Mora and Vernon Forrest rematch as the co-featured bout on the Saturday, September 13th fight card.

Kelly Pavlik And Bernard Hopkins Set To Faceoff In Light Heavyweight Bout Saturday, October 18

When a powerful young champion and devastating knock-out artist meets a future Hall of Fame boxing legend and two-division world champion who has never been knocked out, there will be plenty of debate and speculation as to who will win.  That will definitely be the case when Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik faces Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins in a light heavyweight battle at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on Saturday October 18 in a bout presented by Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions, in association with Caesars Atlantic City.

Swanson Communications Retained By Affliction Entertainment to Promote “Day of Reckoning”

Swanson Communications has been selected by Affliction Entertainment, the newly formed partnership between Affliction Clothing and the Trump Organization, to manage a comprehensive public relations campaign promoting Afflictions’ second foray into the world of Mixed Martial Arts—Affliction “Day of Reckoning.” The agency played a major role in the national promotion of “Affliction Banned,” the inaugural MMA show sponsored by Affliction in July 2008.
