Swanson Communications Implements First Ever Press Conference Held at Statue of Liberty

Swanson Communications is no stranger to creating and implementing unique press events. In October of 2008 the agency executed a media event unlike any other; holding the first ever press conference at the Statue of Liberty. The event, attended by over 100 media members, kicked off a six-city media tour promoting the “Dream Match” between Oscar de la Hoya and Manny Pacquiao which took place Saturday, December 6 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV. The fight was produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View. With the fight selling out the live gate in hours, making it the second largest gate in boxing history, the event was a monumental sports happening for 2008.

During the pre-game ceremony, the Washington Nationals will recognize 18-year-old Joshua Carter for being the 2008 Boys & Girls Clubs District of Columbia Youth of the Year and will present him with a certificate commemorating his outstanding achievements. Gold Medalist (’92) and current Ring Magazine Lightweight World Champion Joel Casamayor and former two-division World Champion Juan Manuel Marquez will battle, following a rematch between Sergio Mora and Vernon Forrest rematch as the co-featured bout on the Saturday, September 13th fight card.
