Butler To Donate 100 Bikes To Youth At Community Event In Childhood Neighborhood
Racine, WI (July 13) - Two-time NBA All-Star and 2011 NBA Champion Caron Butler will host a block party and bicycle giveaway this Saturday, July 16 in his hometown of Racine, Wisconsin. Butler will give away 100 bikes to local children at the event, which will feature food, music, a moon bounce and face painting.
“I’m always grateful to have the opportunity to use my platform to inspire people around me,” said Butler. “I’m excited to bring another fun family event to parents and kids in Racine, where I grew up. Giving away bikes has always been important to me and I’m thrilled to continue the tradition in my hometown.”
The event, which will take place on Mead St. between De Koven Ave. and 20th St. from 2:00-4:00 p.m. CT, will be hosted by V100’s Reggie Brown and feature music from DJ O.
“An important part of giving back and being a positive figure in your community is making sure that you are there and that you’re visible and accessible,” continued Butler. “With everything that is going on in our country, I am happy to have the ability to bring joy to kids and their families, even for just an afternoon. Being able to bring the community together is so important and I try to do that every time I have an opportunity to give back.”
The 14-year NBA veteran is committed to giving back to his community and regularly holds charity events, giveaways and other events to encourage children to pursue their dreams, often in his native Racine. He recently wrote an autobiography, Tuff Juice: My Journey from the Streets to the NBA, as a way to share his triumphant road to success with a larger audience.
